SEVEN STATEMENTS OF CHRIST ON THE CROSS-4

SEVEN STATEMENTS OF CHRIST ON THE CROSS-4

Nov 21, 2015

MY BROTHER! MY SISTER!

25 Now there stood by the cross of Jesus his mother, and his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Cleophas, and Mary Magdalene. 26 When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, Woman, behold thy son! 27 Then saith he to the disciple, Behold thy mother! And from that hour that disciple took her unto his own home (John 19:25-27)

This statement of Christ epitomizes the power of the Cross, in breaking the dividing walls of hostility or division and building in Christ one new family. The statement seeks to create a new family based on his sacrificed body. Mary the Mother of Jesus was to see John as her son and John to see Mary as his mother. By extension, therefore, all the other disciples are to see themselves as brothers and sisters. A family united through the blood of the lamb.

26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. 27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. 28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. 29 And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise (Galatians 3:26-29),

No matter where we come from, our background, achievements and failures, experience or naivety, male or female, race or colour, rich or poor, educated or illiterate, foreigner or indigenous, Greek or Jew we are all one in Christ. A warm FAMILY

Indeed the bond of unity by the blood of Jesus is stronger than bond of unity from our biological parents. We should therefore do every thing possible to keep the unity of the body of Christ. Jesus makes it clear that whoever does the will of the father is his brother and sister.

For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother. (Matthew 12:50)

In Christ therefore a new family has been established. One family bonded by the love of the Lord Jesus Christ.

It is therefore amazing when sometimes some believers treat each other as enemies and strangers. Let us, therefore, watch those who produce discord and division in the body of Christ.

Let true brothers and sisters of our Lord and savior come together to build one another up, rather than tearing each other apart. Let us learn to forgive each other and help restore our brothers and sisters who have backslidden. Let us show so much care for each other even when we disagree. Let us back our faith and confession with action.

We have only one enemy, the devil. Let us not even see those brethren who disagree with us as enemies. Even in extreme cases where they may stab us in the back, betray or work against us, let is still not in our heart see them as enemies. May we learn not to harbor hurt or bitterness in our heart no matter how much we feel shortchanged. Let us fight back with LOVE and BLESSINGS. May we not give the devil a foothold at all. For indeed God is able to work out all things for our good.

May the Spirit of brotherliness sweep over us and bring our hearts together in an awesome bond of unity and affection for each other.

YOU ARE MY BROTHER! YOU ARE MY SISTER. I LOVE YOU

THE BEST CHOICE

THE BEST CHOICE

Nov 17, 2015

“Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness but shall have the light of life” (John 8:12 KJV)

Our world today is one that is full of darkness. According to the Long man dictionary; darkness can be said to be a moment or an instant when there is no light. And from the text above, we can deduce that anyone who does not know Jesus or a follower of him is automatically walking in darkness, meaning, there is the absence of light in that individual’s life.

Now, whenever you are in a place with no light what happens? There was a time when the lights in my room went off and I tell you, I kept hitting my foot against anything in the room because I couldn’t see. Whenever there is the absence of light, everything becomes a mess.

The sinful act of the world has made the world so dark. This also means that men and women living in the world are all walking in darkness but the good news is that whoever accepts Jesus Christ as his Lord and personal savior is transformed from darkness to the light, halleluJah.

“But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe in his name” (John 1:12 KJV)

They that believe in Jesus Christ, walks with him and follow him will automatically receive the light and not just any light but the light of life, thus, the light to see through in this dark world.  The light that will guide you to walk through in this dark world. I believe that darkness is not a permanent thing that occurs in one’s life. The choice to continue living in darkness lies in the hands of each and every one of us. I say this because whenever the lights in your room go off, it is your choice to choose whether to light a candle, put on your generator or continue to stay in the dark.

Jesus is the greater light, the light we need to see through and continue our walk with him in this dark world.

I recommend the greater light (Jesus Christ) to you. Receive Jesus and receive the light of life, ignore him and walk in darkness. The choice is in your own hands but I wish you make the best choice of being with Jesus.                                                From the Media team

It’s Safer With Jesus

It’s Safer With Jesus

Oct 16, 2015

Many a time people seemed to follow Jesus wherever He went – to towns and villages, hills and mountainsides, streets and synagogues. Perhaps most went after Him to see the miracles and healings. Many might have been curious about his teachings. Some may have even been amused by His wisdom of the Torah (5 books of Moses) and prophecy.

Despite many that pursued him daily, very few followers made the commitment to go with Jesus. Only a handful of disciples decided to walk away from the past, to leave family and friends, to give up homes and occupations, to sacrifice their own lives for the lives of others. In the end, just a small band of ordinary men were willing to surrender all they possessed for the hope of what was to come in eternity.

You and I have a choice to make today. We can follow Jesus or we can go with Him. We may watch and observe from a distance or we can be right next to Him, close enough to feel His touch, hear Him breathing and see the compassion in His eyes. We can be there when He prays to the Father and when He is tempted by the world. We can know Him intimately, as a friend, as a brother and as a Savior.

When we decide to go along with Jesus we do more than watch passively from afar. We become a part of His life and He becomes part of ours. What He does affects us and what we do affects Him. In essence, we are yoked with Him. There is no longer any space or separation between us because we are living together. We are both one in the Father.

There is a price for following Christ. But there also are blessings. Too often, Christians look so long at the price to pay, what to give up, but forget about the benefits. We concentrate on the difficulties, the problems, the personal struggles or the intense suffering. Instead, we should be focused on what we have been given.

  • First, we have eternal life. God has promised us an everlasting future after this brief time on earth.
  • Second, His mercy and forgiveness are assured no matter what happens each day.
  • Third, God has planned our lives in a good and perfect way.
  • Fourth, He is always with us through each attack and trial.
  • Fifth, nothing will happen to us without His control and knowledge.
  • Sixth, He gives us His strength, His power and His authority.
  • Seventh, He protects us from the enemy so that we will not fall or fail.

How much more do we need in order to realize that we gain much more than we ever lose by serving God? Even those things that we sacrifice are turned into good through God. Everything that happens, whether we label it good or bad, points toward where we are headed, not where we have been.

Our sights must be firmly fixed on what we already possess and all that awaits us. Like Paul in his letter to the Philippians, we must consider everything worthless and unimportant “compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus.” All we forfeit now we will get back a thousand-fold in paradise. God’s scale of justice is always weighted in our favor because of his unconditional love. We can never lose, nor will we ever be sold short.

Focus On The Messiah

Focus On The Messiah

Oct 13, 2015

In life there are always various things calling for your attention. Many times they are storms. Matthew 14: 22-33 paints a picture many of us can relate to. The disciples were stuck IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SEA. They were HALFWAY THROUGH THEIR JOURNEY, and in deep trouble. They were TOSSED BY THE WAVES, mentally TORMENTED, TESTED and STRETCHED, and THE WIND WAS CONTRARY to where they were trying to go. Then, in the darkest hour just before dawn, Jesus appeared, walking on water. Most of the disciples thought He was a ghost, but Peter heard the Lord say “It is I.”

What do your eyes see when you are stuck in the midst of a tough situation, working hard but making no progress, and all of a sudden, something is coming towards you? You can have one of TWO REVELATIONS. You can see with fear like the disciples, and declare, IT IS A GHOST coming to destroy you. Or, you can see through the eyes of faith, and recognize IT IS JESUS, the One you can trust.

Sometimes when Jesus shows up in your life, you don’t recognize Him. Things have been going wrong for so long, you assume it is the enemy. But not everything that scares you is the devil. What you think is the devil may actually be God coming to your rescue. It all depends on your focus.

In the midst of a storm there are TWO IMAGES you can focus on:

1. THE COMING STORM full of CHAOS, or

2. THE OVERCOMING LORD, which brings CALMNESS.

While the disciples are busy focusing on it being a ghost, Peter says, “Lord if it is You, command me to come to You.” What Peter is looking for is something that will bring him closer to Jesus. He didn’t simply want to walk on water for performance sake. He wanted to be closer to Jesus, and it was in getting closer to Him, that Peter was also able to walk on water.

If you don’t want to get close to Jesus, then you won’t be able to walk over that situation, but if you focus on Him, He will put the situation under your feet.

There are 4 Aspects of Jesus to focus on:

1. THE PERSON OF JESUS (Heb 12: 1-2)—Remember, we are called Christians after Jesus, not after Moses, or John, or any other figure in this world. Neither your pastor, nor any prophet can cause you to walk on water, for they are not Jesus.

2. HIS PRESENCE (Matt 28: 28)—Even when you don’t recognize Him, He is with you always, so look for His presence in your situation.

3. HIS POWER. (Col. 1: 15, 17)—There is no storm more powerful than Jesus. He is before all things. He created all things, and all things exist through Him.

4. HIS PROMISE (John 16: 33)—Jesus said to Peter, “Come”. It was a word of promise in the midst of chaos.

What we learn from Peter is this:
When you fix your eyes on Jesus,

1. You become BRAVE, COURAGEOUS and BOLD.

2. You gain MASTERY over the situation.

3. You gain INTIMACY with the Lord.

Everybody has storms, and sometimes the wind blows hard against your efforts. Whatever contrary winds have hit you in life, if you FIX YOUR EYES ON JESUS, He will give you victory. The storm may remain, the debt will still be there, the problem will not necessarily change, but you can have peace that is greater than the storm and walk on that situation which you feel will drown you.

FREEDOM

SEVEN STATEMENTS OF CHRIST ON THE CROSS 3

SEVEN STATEMENTS OF CHRIST ON THE CROSS 3

Sep 13, 2015

Lu 23:43 . “Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise.”

This statement of Christ on the cross gives the best of hope even to the worst of sinners. When the thief on the cross, believed In Jesus Christ and called upon the name of the Lord, his sins were instantly forgiven, he was reconciled to God and assured of eternity.

This is how powerful the cross is

The joy of our faith-confession is that, Jesus has given us a promise to it. He calls it ASSUREDLY. In other words there is absolute certainty in the future of the believer. We cannot toy with our future. It is therefore extremely dangerous to follow any faith, religion or movement that does not give that level of certainty. There is no room for ‘Had I Known’. We cannot gamble with our eternity.

It is only Christ Jesus, who throughout Human history has been able to give that level of certainty for our future in eternity. Indeed when a person accepts Jesus Christ, in genuine repentance and confession of faith, there is an immediate assurance of eternity.

We only need to live on the confession of our faith.

Indeed, Christ in you is the hope of glory

To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory: (Colossians 1:27)

Today if we hear the voice of the Spirit calling and we do not harden our heart and we surrender to the Lord, when Jesus comes we shall meet him in the air and shall be with him forever. Hallelujah

What singing there will be up there,
What singing there will be up there,
When face to face with Jesus we shall stand,
And join the heavenly choir in the  better land,
What singing there will be up there,
What glory for the  saints to share,
Oh glory, glory, glory,
What singing there will be up there,

STATEMENT 2

Mr 15:34 … “Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?” which is translated, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?”

The second ‘crossing’ or exchange that took place on the cross was in the statement “Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?” which is translated, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?”

Christ on the cross was forsaken so that we shall be reconciled to God and accepted by HIM. Jesus, the beloved Son of God, was forsaken on the cross, because looking down on the cross God could see “one carrying the sin of the whole world’. The scripture states that

‘He himself bore our sins’ in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; ‘by his wounds we are healed’ (1Pet 2:24 NIV).

He was made a sin offering and hence appeared a sinner, even though he had no sin.

It is by grace, through faith in Christ therefore, that we are saved. In Christ we have full acceptance and access to God. Glory! Our sins were not only forgiven on the Cross, but we have FULL acceptance in Christ. For just as through the sin of one man (Adam) we all became sinners and were separated by ‘default’ from God, so also through the obedience of One Man ‘Jesus Christ’ we have full acceptance with God (1 Cor. 15:22)

Sometimes it’s a bit intriguing how we easily identify with the sin of Adam and admit that we are sinners, irrespective of our righteous deeds, but unable to believe that we have been made righteous in Christ Jesus and hence full acceptance by God, irrespective of the sins we had committed.

Indeed, it is not because of the sins we committed that we were made sinners, rather it was because we were sinners (through Adam) that we committed sins. In the same vain it is not the good we have done or are doing that makes us righteous and accepted by God. It is rather because we have been made righteous and accepted by God, through our faith in Christ who was forsaken, that we commit acts considered righteous by God.

Praise the Lord, for the Lord is our Righteousness. May we walk in the boldness of the Lord our righteousness and not live in the guilt of the sins of the past. May we enjoy the liberation from the power of sin on the Cross, and burst in the glory of the Lord our righteousness
